Create a scannable QR code for your WiFi network so guests can connect instantly.
WiFi QR Code Generator: Let Guests Connect Without Typing Passwords
We have all experienced this incredibly awkward social ritual. You invite friends or extended family over to your house for a nice dinner. Within five minutes of walking through the front door, someone inevitably pulls out their smartphone and asks, "Hey, what is your WiFi password?"
You then have to awkwardly walk over to your dusty internet router, flip it upside down, and attempt to read a microscopic string of random letters and numbers. "Okay, it's a capital J, a lowercase q, the number 7... wait, is that a zero or a capital O?" After three failed attempts and increasing frustration, they finally manage to connect. It is a terrible experience for everyone involved.
It does not have to be this way! Welcome to the glorious future. I built this incredibly convenient, highly secure WiFi QR Code Generator to completely eliminate this annoying problem forever. By simply entering your network details into this tool once, you can instantly generate a scannable QR code. You can print this code out, stick it on your fridge, and your guests can simply point their iPhone or Android camera at it to connect to your internet instantly—zero typing required!
How Does a WiFi QR Code Actually Work?
Many people falsely assume that this tool creates some sort of magical cloud connection. In reality, it is much simpler and significantly more secure than that. The tool is simply translating your standard WiFi login text into a specialized, machine-readable visual barcode.
Apple iOS and modern Android operating systems have a universally agreed-upon standard for reading WiFi data hidden inside QR codes. Behind the scenes, the image we generate contains a hidden string of text that looks exactly like this:
WIFI:T:WPA;S:MyHomeNetwork;P:MySecretPassword123;;
When your guest opens their standard camera app and points it at the QR code, their phone's operating system instantly recognizes the `WIFI:` tag. It quietly extracts the SSID (Network Name) and the Password, and automatically fills in the complex settings in the background. A tiny prompt pops up asking "Join Network MyHomeNetwork?", they tap yes, and they are instantly online!
How to Generate and Download Your Custom QR Code
Enter the Network Name (SSID)
This must be the exact, precise name of your WiFi network as it appears on people's phones. It is strictly case-sensitive! If your router broadcasts "Home_Net_5G", you absolutely cannot type "home net 5g". The QR code will fail to connect if the capitalization is wrong.
Type the Secret Password
Enter your WiFi password into the secure input box. Again, this is highly case-sensitive. (Note: If you run an open, public cafe network with zero password required, you can leave this box completely blank and change the encryption setting to "No Password").
Select the Encryption Type
By default, 99% of modern home routers use standard WPA/WPA2/WPA3 encryption. You should definitely leave this dropdown menu on "WPA" unless you are intentionally running a deeply outdated WEP router or an open public network.
Download the Image
As you type, the massive QR code on the right side of your screen generates in real-time. Once you are done, simply click the blue "Download QR" button. It will save a crisp, high-resolution PNG image directly to your computer. You can print this image out and stick it to your wall!
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to type my WiFi password into this website?
Yes, it is 100% fundamentally safe. Why? Because this specific tool operates entirely on the "client-side". That means the complex QR code image is drawn locally inside your own web browser using JavaScript. Your highly sensitive WiFi password is quite literally never sent over the internet, and we have absolutely zero database to store it in!
Do guests need to download a special app to scan this?
Absolutely not! Almost every single smartphone manufactured after 2017 has a native QR code scanner built directly into the default camera app. Your guests just open their normal camera, point it at your printed paper, and tap the notification bubble that pops up on their screen.
What does the "Hidden Network" checkbox do?
For security reasons, some advanced users configure their routers to hide their network name, meaning it does not show up in the public list of nearby networks. If you did this, you must check the "Hidden Network" box here. Otherwise, the phone scanning the QR code will refuse to search for the invisible signal.
Will this QR code ever expire?
No, never. The generated PNG image contains hardcoded offline data. It does not rely on our website staying online to function. The only time the QR code will permanently stop working is if you physically log into your router and manually change your WiFi password or network name.
